Description
Obverse: Surinamese woman with fruits and a torch behind her symbolising the Emancipation Day (Dag der Vrijheden, Keti Koti, Manspasi). On the 1st of July 1863 Netherlands abolished slavery in Suriname and the Netherlands Antilles. That day is celebrated as a public holiday since then. Reverse: Coat of arms depicting two indians, sailing ship and a palm tree.
